Nadwa Al-Dawsari
Non-Resident Fellow, Middle East Institute
Nadwa Al-Dawsari is a non-resident fellow at the Middle East Institute. Before joining MEI, she was the Yemen country director for the Center for Civilians in Conflict, a senior non-resident fellow at the Project on Middle East Democracy, and a founding director of Partners Yemen, a local affiliate center of Partners Global. Earlier in her career, she worked as a senior program manager at the National Democratic Institute in Yemen, managing election monitoring and tribal conflict programs. Al-Dawsari has over 20 years of field experience in Yemen, conducting extensive research and providing deeper insights into the internal dynamics of the conflict in the country. Her publications have been featured by MEI, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, United States Institute of Peace, Atlantic Council, Lawfare, Project on Middle East Democracy, The Washington Post, and Center for Civilians in Conflict, among others. Al-Dawsari holds an MA in development studies from the University of Leeds and a BA in English literature from Sana’a University in Yemen. Her regions of expertise are Yemen and the Gulf, and her issues of expertise include Yemen’s tribal system, peacebuilding, conflict analysis, informal justice and security, nonstate actors, and U.S. Middle East policy. She speaks Arabic and English.
