Neil Quilliam
Energy Research Director, SRMG Think; Associate Fellow, Chatham House’s Middle East and North Africa Programme
Neil Quilliam is an energy policy, geopolitics, and foreign affairs specialist with extensive knowledge and experience of the Middle East and North Africa region. He is the energy research director at SRMG Think. He is also an associate fellow with Chatham House’s Middle East and North Africa Programme, where he headed the Future Dynamics in the Gulf project. He is also a director at Azure Strategy Consulting. Previously, Quilliam was the project director of the Syria and Its Neighbours Policy Initiative and acting head of the MENA Programme, having joined Chatham House as a senior research fellow in January 2014. He has also served as senior MENA energy advisor at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, senior MENA analyst at Control Risks, London, and senior program officer at the United Nations University, Amman. Quilliam has lived in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates and has traveled extensively around the MENA region, working on a variety of development, education, and research projects. He has published a number of books and articles on international relations and the political economy of Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
