Evyenia Sidereas

Director of Arabian Peninsula Affairs, Near Eastern Bureau, U.S. Department of State

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Evyenia Sidereas is the director for the U.S. Department of State’s Near Eastern Affairs Arabian Peninsula Office. Previously, her overseas assignments have taken her to Thailand, Kosovo, Egypt, and Iraq. Sidereas has served most recently as Gulf director at the National Security Council, political minister counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, and as deputy director of the Syria Transition and Response Team at the U.S. Mission to Turkey.

A native of Chicago, IL, Sidereas attended DePaul University and obtained her master’s degree from the London School of Economics.  She speaks Greek and is conversant in German and Arabic.
