Sajad Jiyad is a Baghdad-based fellow at The Century Foundation, with expertise in public policy, civil society, and governance in Iraq. Previously, Jiyad served as the managing director for the Al-Bayan Center and a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations. His expert commentary is frequently published in media and news outlets, and his most recent publication is “Confusion and Contention: Understanding the Failings of Decentralisation in Iraq.” Jiyad’s educational background is in economics and politics, and Islamic studies.
