Shamael Al-Sharikh

Independent Analyst

Shamael Al-Sharikh is an independent Kuwaiti political analyst and activist for women’s issues. She worked on election campaigns for candidates running for the National Assembly in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2016, and 2020. She is also a former board member of the Women’s Cultural Social Society, the oldest women’s nonprofit organization in the Gulf region. 

Al-Sharikh was also a member of the executive office of the National Youth Project in 2012-13, an initiative by the Amiri Diwan to address youth concerns and advance their role in forming the country’s future vision and development. 

Al-Sharikh holds an MSc in international politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies and a BA in international relations from Tufts University. Growing up in a diplomatic family, she lived in Japan, Germany, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. She now resides in Kuwait.
