Multidisciplinary Artist, United Arab Emirates
Hessa Al Suwaidi is a New York-based artist who was born and raised in Dubai. She graduated with a BA in textiles from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, followed by an MFA in textiles from the Parsons School of Design in New York. Her exploration and development lie within hybrid processes, such as integrating the use of traditional craft techniques with modern iterations. Al Suwaidi conveys another layer of her storytelling through the integration of photography and her textiles. She has exhibited her work in Dubai, London, and New York. Al Suwaidi’s textiles embody the loud and bold use of color and hybrid processes in the discussion of women in the Middle East.
