In response to The Atlantic‘s interview with U.S. President Barack Obama,”The Obama Doctrine,” AGSIW Senior Resident Scholar Hussein Ibish appeared on TVO to discuss the effects of Obama’s foreign policy. Ibish referenced the “double-standard” of Obama’s views toward Saudi Arabia and Iran, especially in light of both countries’ records on human rights. AGSIW Non-Resident Fellow Fahad Nazer was quoted in an article for The Washington Post discussing the Saudi response to Obama’s comments describing Saudi Arabia and other countries as “free riders.” Nazer commented that Saudi sentiment is largely negative toward Obama, in line with Prince Turki al-Faisal’s response: “Many Saudis readily admit that they are now simply awaiting the end of President Obama’s tenure.”
