Minister of Oil and Gas, Bahrain
H.E. Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa is the minister of oil and gas of Bahrain, appointed by royal decree in 2016. He graduated with honors from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals with a bachelor’s degree. Al Khalifa completed his higher education in the United Kingdom with a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge and an advanced master’s from the Imperial College of Science. He also holds an MBA from DePaul University, Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.
Al Khalifa joined Bahrain’s Ministry of Finance in 1999, and became director of government shareholdings in 2005. During his tenure at the ministry, he worked on the privatization of key projects including the privatization of power plants, Seef Properties initial public offering, and Muharraq STP. He is a former board member of the Bahrain National Gas Expansion Co. and Lulu Tourism Co.
Al Khalifa was appointed as the chief executive of the Oil & Gas Holding Company in 2011. He is currently chairman of the National Oil & Gas Authority, the Oil & Gas Holding Company, the Bahrain Petroleum Co., and Tatweer Petroleum Company, and he is a board member of the Central Bank of Bahrain.
