Iraq's October Elections: A Game Changer or More of the Same?

Rahman Al-Jebouri is a senior fellow at the Institute of Regional and International Studies at the American University of Iraq Sulaimani and president of the Political Leadership and Governance Development Academy. He previously served as associate director for the Middle East and North Africa at the National Endowment for Democracy. Based in Baghdad, he connects IRIS with policymakers in the federal government by overseeing high-level dialogue among stakeholders in Baghdad, Basra, and southern Iraq. He also leads IRIS training programs, focusing on equipping government and civil society leaders with the skills to formulate and advocate for policy change. Throughout his career, Al-Jebouri has overseen local initiatives that empower citizens, monitor human rights, and hold governments accountable to their citizens. He is featured regularly in Iraqi and regional media analyzing domestic politics and regional affairs.
